A Life SO Ordinary

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003

Well now you're reading the diary of a new employee at Hendersonville Medical Center.

Aren't you just bubbly with excitement? I know I am. Now my step-mom will stop griping at me about being un-employed.

She really has a problem with it too. The other night she was complaining to my dad that I dont have a job or go to school, and i just sit on my ass all day.

Well excuse me, but i've been going to school the past 12 years of my life and I would like to have a break before i have to get a job and go back to school for another 4-5 years/the rest of my life.

She acts like i am totally lazy and I have never been anything but that. Excuse me? I held a job back in Texas for a year and a half and as soon as I could I got a job here in Tennessee.

Lazy my ass!

She was the one who didnt get a job for almost 5 months after we moved here. Granted she was looking, but I was looking as well.

Well after she told my dad how she felt he told me that night after dinner that i should have dinner started and the tea pitcher should never be empty.

Now before I go on further I would just like to say that I am by now means spoiled. I am quite the opposite in fact.

Excuse me, but since I have known Connie she has hardly ever cooked a meal when she was/was not working. I mean during the school/work week my family expects a "fend for yourself" night. Nobody wants to cook in the middle of the week... especially me!

So now i am "expected to be making dinner when she gets home. The only plus side to this is that I can cook better than she does!

The first meal that I cooked is a regular of hers. Its pork tenderloins and other stuff. When she cooks the pork it is always dryer than a freaking bag of sawdust.

Really... it is.

When I made it, it was juicy and cooked just right. I ROCK!

You see... cooking is in my blood. My great great grandma was a german caterer and she planned wedding meals and luncheons and all that crap. The same with my grandma's mom. My grandma inherited both of their recipes and the skill. So did my dad and my older sister and myself.

Alas I havent seen the same talent in my younger sis or my older bro. Ah well.

I've rambled too long about my cooking predicament.

I have to attend an employee orientation on the 27th and my first day of work will be the 28th!

Basically I am a janitor, but they call it housekeeping. Which i can understand because we will be cleaning out patients' rooms and the like.

YAY!

Ya see I've always wanted to be a nurse (also alot of those in the family), and I figured I had to start somewhere. Now i can "network" and get experience in a Hospitol environment which will help me along the way!

I love it when things go my way! Now I just hope nothing will knock me down!
