A Life SO Ordinary

Friday, Jan. 28, 2005

My English class is in the science building at my school. I guess all of the other class rooms were taken in the English building.

Anyway.

I'm on the third floor in the science building and the layout is great. Let me tell ya.

There is a big square cut out of the center of the building so that stairs are going right up in the middle of this square. The handrails of the staircase are clear glass, as are the edges of the cut out square on each floor.

Now you may begin to understand why the title of this entry is "Vertigo".

I can't stand heights. I get queasy and dizzy when I stand near edges that are more than 7 feet off the ground. I get this feeling that I just need to "hug" the floor and not get up.

When I went to the Rock and Roll Hall Of fame in Cleveland, Ohio (which was amazing!!!) they had the same idea. Wide open spaces with stairs that go up in the middle of it with open handrails! Needless to say that I tried to take the elevator that was reserved for disabled people whenever an attendant was not present.

So my English Tower of Terror, is much like that except less artsy-fartsy. Every time I have to walk by that handrail I cringe. I can't handle it. Why can’t people just use freaking walls! What's that matter with a nice solid wall? It keeps people like me feeling safe.

Good thing I'm not claustrophobic or I'd have one hell of a time, huh?

I’m glad that when I take Astronomy that room will hopefully be on the bottom floor because that’s where the Planetarium is at. SCORE!

My statistics teacher is driving me insane! I do like the class because I can still understand what he's talking about. He just keeps going over and over the same basic stuff though. We covered box plots yesterday and no one had any questions on it. Then today he went over it like 3 more times using different examples.

If no one has questions, then obviously people must be getting it. I am glad that he is thorough. But he really needs to move a bit faster. I suppose my worries could be more annoying so I am glad that he's not a speed teacher.

Hasta Luego!
