A Life SO Ordinary Thursday, Dec. 04, 2003 I'm so horrible... I haven't been keeping this thing up AT ALL. In my very first entry I was all about writing stuff down... pish... yea I guess your wondering what happened to that notion, huh? Me too. Ah well, the only thing I can say is that I'm updating now, huh? Right now I'm trying to find another new job... The hospitol was getting me down, but I may want to return to that. I really liked it. I hate Target; I enjoy the 10% employee discount, but I really can't take all the idiotic "guests" that I have to be nice to. Granted, I'd expect customer service to be wonderful wherever I go because they are supposed to help me. There are times, however, when you can't do everything the customer may ask. Like every job you work at and will visit there are rules and regulations to help day-to-day business run smoothly. If you didn't have these rules then all hell would break loose and nobody would have anything to keep them in check. Basically, chaos. You may be wondering why I happpen to be griping about this particular subject, and the reason is, is that I was assaulted with a CD tonight at work. Yes, I said CD. The kind you listen to. A "guest" wanted to return an opened CD. She wanted her money back or to get a different CD because she didn't like the one she got. I told her because the CD was opened we couldn't take it back or let her select another one. Now if there had been anything wrong with it, like it skipped or whatever, then she could have gotten the same one, and I would have had to open it before she left the store. No biggie. She just didn't like the Acoustic Versions of Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits. Well after explaining to her that she could not have anything done for her she threw it at me and said that I could keep it and see if anyone else wants it. I wanted it; I got a free CD; no scratches! Heheh. Another thing that bugs me about working in Retail is that some people respond to our policies by saying, "Well they do it at .. Since I work at Target, Walmart is frequently thrown in there because it is one of our chief competitors. There are basically two responses I have to that statement (that I'm not aloud to say, of course): 1) This is NOT WALMART! Did you miss the BIG RED TARGET SIGN out front and 2) Compare Walmart to Target; where would you rather shop? Honestly.. I don't know about you guys but I've been in Walmarts, and they aren't always the cleanest, nicest looking stores. The people look like they'd rather be anywhere else. Target is the opposite. So there you have it... Don't EVER work in Retail unless it's a last resort... I beg of you! |
